Have you ever been thirsty? Really thirsty? Like, parched and ready-to-die thirsty?

Maybe you know that feeling of your tongue being stuck to the roof of your mouth. Maybe you’ve felt your tongue or your throat crack and bleed from lack of water. Maybe you’ve felt the extreme headache or pain in your kidneys from dehydration. Chances are, you’ve experienced one of these symptoms to some degree or other. But, to be thirsty to the point of death – few of us have ever been there physically.

Spiritually, we are all there before we come to Christ. We are all dying because we do not have the Living Water. We all need Jesus to spring up in our dead dehydrated bodies and bring us to life.

Even as Christians, we can become dry in our faith. Parched and needing the Author of Life to write a new chapter of refreshment into our story. We may have grown complacent, gotten lazy, maybe walked off the path or even been rebellious and run away. Being away from the Bread of Life and the Living Water, we have become dry and in need of His provision of sustenance.

Jesus describes Himself as the Bread of Life and said that He could give us Living Water if we would just come draw from His well. What He was referring to is believing in Him for eternal life and following Him in righteousness for all we need to survive in this life.

Are you hungry for eternal life? Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, repent of your sin and be saved! Do you thirst to know God, to love Him and live according to His design for your life? Then follow Jesus’ footsteps, do what He did, read His Word, pray and walk in the Holy Spirit! Live righteously, not to impress others, but to obey the God of the Universe.

And you WILL be filled.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Matthew‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬
